Classification of Metallic Materials
I-1 Ferrous Metals: Also known as iron and steel materials, they include industrial pure iron with more than 90% iron content, cast iron with 2% to 4% carbon content, carbon steel with less than 2% carbon content, as well as various types of structural steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, high-temperature alloys, precision alloys, etc. In a broader sense, ferrous metals also include chromium, manganese, and their alloys.
I-2 Nonferrous Metals: Refer to all metals and their alloys other than iron, chromium, and manganese, and are typically divided into light metals, heavy metals, precious metals, semimetals, rare metals, and rare earth metals, etc.
I-3 Special Metals: Include structural metallic materials and functional metallic materials for various purposes.
