Anodizing is an electrochemical process in which aluminum parts are immersed in a dilute sulfuric acid solution and a voltage is applied across the cathode and anode. The process effectively converts the exposed surface of the part into a hard, electrically non-reactive alumina coating. The density and thickness of the resulting coating depends on the consistency of the solution, the anodization time and the current. You can also anodize to color parts.
